Family campgrounds dot the shores of nearby Lake Murray, Sesquicentennial State Park has a woodland campsite and boating lake, and part of the 500-mile Palmetto Trail passes through Poinsett State Park. Created with the construction of the Saluda Dam in 1930, Lake Murray provides ample fishing and boating opportunities as well as electricity for the state's entire midlands region.
